At the Billboard Music Awards for 2023, Nigerian musicians Burna Boy and Rema achieved big wins, showing how Nigerian music is getting famous worldwide.
Burna Boy won the newly created category Best Afrobeats Artist, beating competition from Libianca, Rema, Tems and Wizkid.Rema also got an award for another newly created category which is Top Afrobeats Song for his song with Selena Gomez ‘Calm down‘.
These wins highlight how Nigerian music is making a mark globally. Even though Morgan Wallen won the most awards that night with 11, and Taylor Swift got 10, Burna Boy and Rema’s victories show that Nigerian music is gaining well-deserved recognition around the world. It’s a celebration of diverse talents shaping the music scene.
